At Port Townsend Boatyard
August 23 and 24, 20088
Class will meet at the Port Townsend Boatyard and paint either marina or dry docked boats. Instruction in drawing boats and handling both media will be provided on both group and individual basis. Class size will be limited so email Jane for more information about this workshop.
First Project: Portrait with pastels on La Carte.
Here, emphasis will be made on the separation of values and the use of edges prior to the introduction of color. Jane will demonstrate how to make use of pressure and the shape of the pastel itself in working on an abrasive surface. She will then demo the addition of color and ways to apply color
Second Project: Experimental use of pastel on commercially prepared surfaces.
Jane will demonstrate how to 'block in' a surface on Wallis paper by various methods. During the workshop, Jane will discuss and demo a method of looking at and identifying color as well as the structure of the head, use of planes, values and edges.
